Women's Training & Business Center

Two years ago a partnership between the Mining Safety Technology Consortium and the Women’s Business & Training Center was forged.

This partnership was established to provide business training and counseling to small businesses, especially coal related small businesses in the Fayette County and Upper Kanawha Valley Area.

The Center has a five year history of providing high quality business training throughout southern West Virginia. In addition, the Center provides loan packaging, business consulting, and customized training to women and men.

“MSTC has provided the ability to serve more small business owners. During these challenging economic times, the ability to lower the cost of training as well as limit the distance required for travel and time a business owner has to spend away from their business is invaluable.” - Tara C. Elder, WBTC Director

As a division of the Region 1 Workforce Investment Board and funded in part by the US Small Business Administration, the Center leverages all federal funds received with local resources and training fees to assist potential and existing small business owners, their employees, and those individuals seeking to develop their employment skills.

Through partners like the Mine Safety Technology Consortium, the Center is able to provide training in outreach locations at a fraction of the cost. MSTC gains a resource to provide counseling for small coal related businesses. Counseling can include business planning, marketing, loan packaging and more.
