The Mine Safety Technology Consortium is hoping their updated website will reach out to more people.

Dennis Jarvis, the Director of the MSTC, says in the past they were only able to offer a basic web page. But the new, improved site offers a lot more.

"We provide information about training to mine safety to the general state of the industry. This website, I think, has a broad coalition, a broad base of support and appeal."

Jarvis says one big improvement is the fact the website is now interactive with PowerPoint presentations and other information that can be downloaded.

"It allows the user to obtain information that they may need without contacting an office."

Who's using the site?

"I think it's entrepreneurs. I think it's people in the industry and also it's just anyone who's interested in the mining industry in West Virginia as a whole."

Jarvis says the site also is a one-stop shop for users to find out about the latest in coal mining news.

"It gives an update of coming events related to mine safety, conferences or symposiums."
