DENNIS JARVIS, II
Director of MSTC

Dennis Jarvis, II is the Director of the Mine Safety Technology Consortium at Bridgemont Community and Technical College in Montgomery, West Virginia.

Dennis received his Bachelors of Arts Degree in History from Bluefield State College and his Masters of Arts in Political Science from Marshall University. Additionally Dennis is a graduate of the Economic Development Institute at the University of Oklahoma at Norman.

Dennis has over 10 years experience as a professional economic developer in West Virginia and Central Virginia. His career includes impacting community economic development by obtaining $62.3M in investments and securing $190,000 in grant funds. His efforts include working with communities to create over 750 new jobs.


LAUREN R. CLARK, CD

Engineering Intern

Lauren is a 2009 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and the Academy of Careers and Technology.

At ACT, she received a certificate of completion in Drafting and her ADDA Certified Drafter License. In Spring 2009 Lauren won first place in the state SkillsUSA competition and went on to Nationals.

Lauren is currently attending Bridgemont Community and Technology College. In December 2011, she will graduate with Associate’s Degrees in Drafting and Design, Mechanical Engineering Technology, and Civil Engineering Technology.

She looks forward to working for a mining company as a drafter and/or engineer after graduation. Her love for coal mining has inspired her to help better the mining world with its safety programs.
